Happy Feet, Happy Heart

Posted by admin in healing

It is true. I speak from experience.

This week Rachel King gave me the most wonderful and relaxing Thai foot massage.

After only a few minutes into the massage I could sense the tension from the day just flowing out of my body and into Rachel’s hands. I could also feel my eye lids becoming softer and softer as Rachel continued to massage my feet. I very much liked her pace and amount of pressure she applied – not too hard and not too soft, just right. She is the sort of person who seems to know what one needs and likes without having to ask – just by tuning into one’s body…

So it seems that when our feet are happy, our whole body is happy and as a result our heart feels happy and spacious too. After the massage I truly felt at peace with myself and the world and deeply relaxed. Rachel said that most of her clients ask for a neck or shoulder massage but that a foot massage benefits the whole body. I very much confirm her experience.

“I really enjoy giving a foot massage because sitting opposite my clients allows me to see them and to connect with them – I like to engage with my clients in that way – it’s a very relaxing thing to do for me too.” Rachel King

When I coach clients the topic of ‘needs’ comes up very often, ie what our bodies need in terms of food, exercise and touch and what our mind and soul need in terms of space to think, process and just be. In this context I often recommend a regular massage to relax and nurture ourselves. Well, I can highly recommend Rachel – she also offer whole body Thai massages.

Rachel set up Happy Feet, Happy Heart last summer. She is a trained Thai masseur and moves around London in her pop-up mobile foot massage unit. What a wonderful thing and different too! Rachel spent some time in Thailand in her twenties and went back again later in her life to carry out her Thai massage training. She is very familiar with Thai culture where physical touch and massage form part of daily life and well-being.

One of the guys who work at the Towpath Cafe said to me after a massage:  “London is so hectic, we rarely sit down and do nothing.” It was very beneficial to relax and for once do nothing.

For those of you who live in East London, you can find Rachel at her unique Happy Feet, Happy Heart ‘Canalside Clinic’ at the Towpath Cafe on Tuesdays from 2-6pm or contact her if you want to meet her in a different place.
