ABOUT YOUR COACH

What I enjoy most in my coaching work – indoors or outdoors – is to see people change, when they grow taller in themselves, when their eyes start to shine, when things become unstuck, when life starts to move again, when breakthroughs and shifts start happening – however small – insights gained, new plans made….

Karen LiebenguthI have always been curious about people, our connections, what makes us tick, what makes us sad, anxious or joyful and our potential for long-lasting change. In 2002, I was working for an international firm managing a team of diverse people in a highly competitive, unsupportive and deadline driven work environment. I felt I needed to do something that would not only help me deal with my own stress and anxiety but would also enable me to offer support to the members of my team. I decided to start studying Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – a practice which underpins my life coaching work today. Little did I know then what a pivotal point in my life this would be.

The training was helping me in my reaction and response to challenging situations, to sleepless nights and difficult decisions; but it was also helping me to recognise and define what I wanted most from my life. With the support of my own life coach, I was able overcome the fear and anxiety associated with making a big life change and look for a new career. Once I had taken the decision everything else seemed to fall into place. Following some time out in Africa doing some conversation work, I completed my training to become a life coach as I wanted to offer others what had been so useful to me.

BRINGING THE OUTDOORS INTO MY COACHING

I feel more grounded, alert, and more spacious inside. I gain new perspective and new ideas. Knowing what being in nature can do for me, I decided to combine my coaching work with nature so that my clients could also benefit from its positive impact.

In 2009 I started to offer 1:1 coaching in London parks and group workshops in Richmond Park and Hampstead Heath.

Mayor influences in my work and life have been Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), The Art of Mentoring, Hypnotherapy, Ecopsychology, Focusing, Compassionate Communication and my work for the environmental charity Friends of the Earth in Internal Communications.  I am a member of the Association for Coaching and I comply with their code of practice.
